Thanksgiving Sangha: Grief & Gratitude Circle

The holidays are especially tough, for those experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one. This Thanksgiving, let’s come together to cultivate collective healing with compassion and gratitude, as we honour and transmute grief through ritual, reflection, breathwork, and restorative yoga.

In this safe and sacred space, we will:
· Explore grief as a complex yet profound human experience of loving surrender through reflection and journaling

· Share stories from our grief journeys, what they have taught us and continue to bring up

· Cherish the loved ones we lost over altar building and candle lighting rituals

· Practice breathwork to move energy through the body, release, and create space for healing

· Receive softness through a heart opening and nourishing restorative yoga practice

· Integrate our healing with a closing loving kindness meditation practice

All emotions are welcome and participation is confidential. You can have experienced grief or loss of any kind to join, including the death of a loved one or pet, miscarriage or pregnancy loss, divorce, devastating breakup, infertility, loss of health or chronic illness, collective grief and many more. The space is an opportunity to share and witness each other in our personal relationship with grief without judgement, and integrate a deeper sense of connection to yourself and to the community.

Please bring a journal, pen, water, and anything you’d like to place at the altar. You are able to take back what you contribute to the altar after we wrap up.

About your guide:
Priya Saha is a yoga and meditation teacher from the Light on Lotus yogi family. Growing up in India, Priya witnessed losses through others. Working at non profits in India, she often visited villages, juvenile jails, old age homes, and brothels, supporting victims of trauma. Witnessing others facing hardships in circumstances spanning extreme poverty, social and economic marginalization, abuse, addiction and inequity, she cultivated the capacity to hold space for unique stories as each encounter presented the opportunity to encourage healing in others. In the past few years, her own personal losses have brought her closer to grief. She is continuously inspired by the polarity, rhythms and cyclical nature of life and death as they bring purpose to each other and uses elements of these paradoxes to inform her yoga practice.
