Break It Down: Backbends
The first in a series of workshops designed to offer a more detailedbreak-down of different aspects of the Asana practice and how it translates to your body and mind.
In this workshop we will take a detailed look at backbending; the joy, challenges, myths, and ways to get the most out of your backbends without going over the edge. We will warm up with a sequenced flow designed to help you feel more open and thus get deeper with a greater feeling of ease in your backbends. We will then look in detail at some of the backbends most commonly found in flow classes, and explore helpful tips and modifications focusing on alignment and creative use of props. Hopefully you will leave having learned something new about the ups and downs of backbending that you can apply to your own practice!
Open to all levels.

Being a tween and teenager sure is a tough job. Our Lotus Girls Tween Tribe Workshop provides a non-competitive outlet for girls ages 9 - 13 to move their bodies, lift their hearts and calm their minds; using yoga to help them with some of the struggles adolescents experience. In this workshop, we'll practice basic and challenging yoga poses and partner poses, we'll learn age appropriate breathing techniques, and we will focus on mindfulness and meditation. We will also make beautiful mala bead bracelets, spending time being creative and connected.
Yoga is a perfect escape in our hectic world and the hope of this workshop is to provide this age group with something to call their own. Students will leave with less stress and anxiety, and more kindness towards themselves and others; forming a community of like minded, open hearted friends and a practice that they can share for a lifetime.

Ayurvedic Workshop: Eat to Heal!
Rooted in India's most cherished scriptures known as the Vedas, Ayurveda is the ancient Indian science of preventative health and healing, as well as, a philosophy of living. One of the three pillars of life and good health, according to Ayurveda, is our relationship to food. We are not what we eat but rather what we digest.
In this two hour workshop, Minerva will guide you through the foundation of Ayurvedic philosophy - the Panchamahabhutas (five great elements), how they combine to create Doshas (our nature) and the importance of these concepts in relationship to your overall health. Minerva will walk you through Ayurveda’s perspective on Ahara (food), Rasa (tastes) and how to work with all these concepts to reconnect with your food in ways to support your overall health. You’ll walk away inspired to develop a more mindful relationship with your food.
